Serial Crime

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

Who is the serial criminal? Any type of serial criminal creates a severe threat to society. When we review the case of the 3rd Reich crimes, when every day thousands of thousands of people were murdered with unbelievable atrocity by thousands of people, who never demonstrated any signs of insanity before working in the death camps, we ask ourselves many questions about motivation and reasoning to explain the organization of this meatgrinder, about the personalities of participants - when yesterday's workers or dynastic nobles became the cruel serial murderers, and many other questions about these crimes which continue for almost 80 years. The Green Folder of Gœring was implemented in real life. Stalin was a cruel person, but somebody wrote 4 million denunciations. Somebody bred the COVID and distributed this. Somebody created Al-Quaeda to provide SaaS in terrorism to earn money on markets' shaking and weapon trading. We can continue the examples of mass murderers and serial killing, officially approved in many counties, when the organizers found every time enough people to execute their plans.

The most serious pandemic humanity faces now is the pandemic of serial crime. In particular the pandemic of serial mass murders.

The concepts of ‘‘serial offenders,’’ or ‘‘serial crimes,’’ related primarily to such specific severe criminals as the serial killer, the serial rapist, and the serial arsonist. Serial crimes are several crimes in a row, which possess the same (or almost the same) characteristics and are performed by the same criminal/group of criminals during the period.

Serial criminals commit their crimes professionally or not. However, both cases can be a way to earn money, even the criminal commits habitual crimes. The worst case scenario is when the serial killer gets power in the country, it becomes a huge problem for everyone.

In serial crime, we segregate professional and unprofessional criminal careers. The first one brings material gain and recognition (e.g., Al-Quaeda). Whilst the second one brings usually recognition and satisfaction of various kinds (e.g., Gacey, Ted Bandy, white-collar criminals) - usually habitual, or chronic offenders. We also would segregate the 3rd type of criminal career, when the criminals are sophisticated enough to extract financial gain simultaneously with the financial benefits from the committed crimes. While the professional criminal may live a double life to hide his criminal career, the nonprofessional criminal essentially lacks a double life. These criminals commit crimes to support an addiction such as drug abuse or gambling, or derive extra income.

In our opinion, any type of serial criminal whether professional or not, doing a criminal career improve the skills and expertise, and may change the character of crimes - to perform several series of different crimes (e.g., Pichushkin - the pagan period).

One of the distinctions to segregate the habitual unprofessional criminal looking for recognition is the cyclicity in criminal behavior.

The general problem for unprofessional criminals who make their criminal career not to gain earnings is that in most cases they are sane. The same applies to the professional criminals. When we are talking about serial mass murderers, they are sane, self-controlled, and cold-minded.

Every criminal make his criminal career. A criminal career is a way to commit crimes regardless of the motive - does this career bring money or just satisfaction. The brain of serial criminals works in another way than it works in ordinary people. The mind of a serial criminal is very dopamine addicted - it's like a drugs junkies, but they are dependent on satisfaction of another kind - to kill people. Doing a criminal career, serial criminals get a level of satisfaction much brighter, sharper, and more powerful than sexual satisfaction. As the graph below shows, dopamine is not produced at the end when the criminal receives the reward. Most of the dopamine the criminal gets is when he anticipates or expects the reward. So, the criminal gets the most out of the crime just before its commitment - during the thinking, planning, and preparation phase.
