On that matter, Orthodox church performed hiding of serial murderers from justice by allowing them to continue criminal career by using the immunity which is provided by the monk's attire. It protects better than bulletproof vest, giving the unique privilege - to have got the status of a holy, an infallible person who can't do anything wrong, especially serial murders, with the unlimited capability to commit crimes and hide its traces.
